The Purpose of This Site

This site was created as an innovative  expression of my unique qualifications.

I hold a Master of Educational Technology degree from the University of British Columbia and have been making use of Blended Learning and key aspects of Social Constructivism for years.

I am seeking to relocate to Canada and join a team where collaboration, flexibility, innovation, and strategic planning are used to design and integrate educational technologies.

Preferably in a higher education or corporate setting, these technologies would involve research-based learning theory and modern pedagogy.

As my references can verify, I take a scholarly and professional approach to my work and excel at all forms of communication and collaboration. Thank you for taking time to visit this site.

My congrats once again for your inquisitive, original approach to scholarship and learning more broadly. Your students are fortunate. …Your facility with digital tools is admirable, and your narrative is skillfully designed extensively-researched and very professionally communicated. You have achieved an even, high quality of delivery, including for mobile devices. Very well done.

Feedback on Learning Theory Thought Papers

Fantastic. You did a fantastic job. I’m giving out one of my very elusive 5’s to you. I don’t give that grade out very often. Congratulations!… (from 1:49 sec. audio)

Academic Partnership

I worked with Gary on several graduate projects at UBC, and found him to be a thoughtful practitioner who communicated his insights articulately. An excellent collaborator, he was a sought-out member of group projects, and was an industrious, generous, and prolific contributor who offered and received constructive comments.

From WordPress to Storyline

These popular platforms both have their pros and cons. In order to more fully understand them and how they might affect a learning environment, I converted a WordPress Sample Lesson (created for a MET course) into a Storyline unit. For more information, tap/click here or the image on the right.

Three key attributes I can bring to the team:

Extraordinary Level of Interdisciplinary Knowledge

Deep personal interest and years of practical experience in numerous disciplines – particularly in the humanities – make it possible to easily communicate and collaborate with faculty members, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and learners in a number of different fields.

Interest areas include – but are not limited to – health and fitness, literacy, medicine, law, politics, sociology, spirituality, religion, technology, journalism, media studies, learning theory, social networking, web design, and, of course, modern instructional design.

Exceptional Degree of
Cross-cultural Competency

Years of living and working overseas have enabled me to gain considerable insight into the diverse cultures of various peoples from all over the world. Because of rapidly advancing technology, this is becoming increasingly necessary at an exponential rate.

However, culture extends across much more than just geographical and national boundaries and my background reflects that reality. I am familiar with other cultures and subcultures, too, including those we find in collegial, managerial, online, religious, educational, and corporate settings.

Decidedly Passionate About
Learning and Technology

My first teaching assignments were in special education and it was in that context when I first developed an appreciation for the way technology was being used as an equalizer for students with special needs. This knowledge and passion only increased when I worked as an educational consultant whose job was, essentially, to learn new technologies and share them with other educators.

As unambiguous evidence of this passion and dedication, this web domain is host to an extensive body of work that I have accomplished over several years.
